I believe the Gift of Giving is in all of us. That helping our fellow man in time of need is part of our genetic DNA. Though most people supporting good causes remain anonymous to the beneficiary of their kindness, it should never diminish the joy you feel knowing you have helped someone less fortunate than yourself. These children are getting up every morning very excited to be going to school, and they will carry with them forever the knowledge that people they’ve never met actually cared about them, and wanted to help them have a better life. That is so powerful!
Beginning with the 2017-18 school year, I will be taking care of the students’ tuition ($5,400 USD) going forward, so that 100% of all donations received by NexGenHaiti will be directed to Pierspective Entraide Humanitaire (P.E.H.) to pay for the installation of solar panels on the roof of the Corail school. This will provide the school with its electrical needs, and any surplus energy generated will be sold off the grid to raise revenues for school Programs.
In addition, P.E.H. has prepared plans to introduce fish and vegetable farming at the Corail school, which will provide nourishing lunches every day for the 440 students. This is such a great and important initiative, because students who are hungry simply can’t get the most out of their education.
I am very excited and honoured that Pierspective asked me to have NexGenHaiti partner with them to help raise awareness and funding for these Programs. I hope you will take a moment to reflect on the impact your donation towards the installation of solar panels can have, not just for the students currently attending the Corail school, but also for children not yet born, who will benefit from your act of kindness many years from now.
